Team Snus FTW!
The beginning of our Dialekt project was designed to prepare us with extensive knowledge, material and ideas relating to a designated area of London.
Each person was put into a group, I had a group of 5 team members. Within this group we had to pick an area at random that would be designated to the group, the area we chose was Bermondsey, London Bridge and Tower Bridge. From this we had to set up and present a presentation covering; Historic events, Famous inhabitants, Important buildings/ architectural icons, Key recent events, Cultural economic demographics, and Facts and statistics, using online research only.
Our next task was then to visit our Bermondsey as a group, research the area, understand the visual identity, taking photos of typography used, colours, cafes and all other visual representations that would be unique to our area, we spoke to people about the history of and Bermondsey in general to get more knowledge on what our area is like.
The next week our group was tasked with diving even deeper into the area, by getting interviews of people in Bermondsey, time lapses and understanding what lies beneath the cracks. I went on to interviewing multiple people in Bermondsey, understanding the culture of the beer and really trying to get under the skin, deciding to create a food journey, an audio map, following the craft beer i Bermondsey and much more. We was briefed to create an insight of our area, so during my interviews I asked for 3 words to describe Bermondsey, the most common word that was used during these interviews was hidden. I think we exceeded ourselves with the interviews, we managed to got a tour of an arch which was turned into a wine business and me and Junaid managed to worm our way into Millwall Football Stadium and get a view through the players tunnel to the pitch.
