Final Pitch

Preparing for the final pitch to Roberto from Bear.

A spanner was thrown in the works. No longer was Bear coming to us, we was going to them.

We had to prepare our pitch for 5 minutes to present in a co-working space in Camden.

We was recommended to stick to 10 slides, but after having 40 and talking for 10 minutes this was going to be a good task.

I asked to see Derek at some point to go through my presentation with me. I broke it down to 25 slides.

I changed my type page with the silhouette, after looking at references of sexual body shapes. 2 artists I liked were Mary Lou Faure, and Malika Favre's work on Kama Sutra.

I decided to try out Malika Favre's Karma Sutra.

I also looked into more photography, as was stated by Brian, he felt that showing the elegance from 2xElliott and leading on to my imagery the client would turn around and say that they want 2xElliott's work. Maybe that i can overlay the imagery from there.

Looking into the photographer who worked on that piece his name was Paul Jung, who specialised in sexual imagery, i decided to put together a mood board of his work.

I then worked on piecing these together with my brand identity.

I really liked the way the image looks, it makes me feel intrigued as to what it is about.

Another option i decided was to change the campaign to a digital campaign where the posters change throughout the day.

I also got negative feedback about Wanna Squash and that Wanna Play was sronger and more seductive so i changed back.

After talking to Derek he helped me break down my presentation to the most important parts, what i needed to cut out and what i needed to keep. We went through putting my presentation in the right order and I then went on to finalising my work.

My final pitch:

Introducing myself and the brief

"Hi my name is Sam Hamilton and I am here to present to you your brief From Minority to Major Player"

"Your brief is to take a niche sport and turn it into an internationally recognised sport, through brand activation, campaigning, personality, language and communication".

Introducing Squash and what squash is.

"My Sport is Squash".

Explaining the target audience with what is on the slide.

"Squash is the Best Workout! You burn more kilo joules playing squash than running swimming tennis and cycling".

"The first problem we have is there is nowhere to play squash. My friend Zach lives in Shoreditch, I live in Blackheath and both our local place to play Squash is in a Woolwich Leisure Centre, with only 4 squash courts and a high booking demand".

"So the first thing i want to propose is a squash gym, in areas such as Hackney, Brixton, Shoreditch, Greenwich, Lewisham, Camden, in areas that a high percentage of our target demographic live".

"Squash is the best Workout! For Endurance, flexibility, sweat and stress relief".

"How do we make squash desirable, Squash makes you sweat, squash gives you flexibility and endurance, squash gives you relief, Squash makes you SEXY! Let's make squash sexy".

"Paul Jung's photography with 2xElliott of bodies twisted and squashed together in a sexualised way".

"Using this photography and turning it black and white to create our own visual identity"

"Then contrasting with the visual language of squash, which are these 3 red lines".

"You get something that looks like this".

"Then using a San Serif font, which is dominantly used in sport and gym advertised and adding a curvaceous cut outs to create an intriguing typeface to make it feel mischievious and if something is missing. This campaign will digital and change through out the day, like so". (click through campaign)

"Finally adding a call to action for the squash gym".

"This campaign will take place in these areas, near by London Based Social Media offices, near Leisure Centres and near gyms such as Better, Puregym, Gym Box and The Gym".

This is the video in the slide i used to showcase how the campaign will work on the mock up.

"The brand identity can then be carried over into video".

"Then into advertisement campaigns".

"And finally on to merchandise".

"Thank you for letting me pitch to you today".

After pitching my brief i got positive feedback from Roberto, he said i didn't have one slide wasted that I talked through it very well and it was bang on. He said the negatives of this idea was the craft, that my touch seemed a bit heavy and my presentation could look a bit nicer.

I am very pleased with the feedback i received and i enjoyed my first experience pitching in a professional environment.

I received an email stating that I was in the Top 6 Roberto chose to have a portfolio review in the summer, so i am more than happy with how my pitch went and I am looking forward to going to Bear for a review.
